I am constantly amazed at the speed of change these days, everything… from travel, to technology, to fashion and I have to confess I am a gadget junkie dying to get my new iPhone!
At the moment I am aboard a flight from Oslo, Norway to New York, (never in a million years would I have thought I’d travel the World by being a hairdresser) having completed a two day ‘Hands-on Finishing’ training for our Redken Scandinavia family, we had five countries represented, artists from, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Sweden! We worked on advancing our finishing skills; blow drying, iron work and dressing.
Trends in fashion are changing approx every six months .... a short while ago trends took about two years to filter through to ‘the streets!’ This is our ‘wake up call,’ to hone our skills! More than ever, we need to be to be sure our technical ability matches the demand of fashion, to be armed with the ‘know how’… the ‘how to’ of doing all types of finishing effects. Today’s fashion all about glamour, tomorrow it will be something else it’s the celebrities that set the trends, and it is our responsibility as professionals to have the ability to deliver the looks our guests want!
